March 12, 2010
KT, the local operator of the iPhone in Korea, announced on March 11 that the company is currently working on the launch of a service, dubbed Tethering, which will allow its iPhone users to use their iPhone as a modem to access Internet services via any mobile handheld devices such as notebook PCs by connecting them to iPhone through Bluetooth technology or USB (Universal Serial Bus), the Korea Times reported on March 11. KT stated that this service, to be launched in April 2010 under KT's new mobile broadband plan, can be used for iPhone and other Smartphone devices, charging at 51.2 Won (US$0.045; US$1 = 1,127 Won) per every megabyte of usage, according to the same source. Since the first release in late November 2009, KT already had around 400,000 iPhone users as of February 2010, according to the same source.
